The City of Janesville is helping young children prepare for organized sports by removing the fear of competition and the threat of getting hurt.

The Start Smart basketball program helps parents teach their children ages four to six the basics of the sport.

Recreation Programmer Elaena Noffsinger says the six-week course begins on Thursday.

Noffsinger says the deadline to register on the City’s website is January 2nd.
