YWCA Rock County announces that the organization is being awarded $25,000 from New Glarus Brewery Foundation. These funds will be used to improve the facilities for both the Transitions Program and the Alternatives to Violence Program Shelter.

Alternatives to Violence at YWCA Rock County assists domestic violence victims in crisis with a 33-bed shelter and case management. The shelter helps those fleeing domestic abuse. Beds, linens, food, clothing, and personal care items are all provided. Transitions at YWCA Rock County provides domestic violence survivors a place to stay for 12-18 months. Survivors in the program work through extensive case management with staff members. The program helps survivors and their children return to independence.

Scott May, the President of Only in Wisconsin Giving said “The YWCA is an invaluable resource for women and children in southern Wisconsin. Their commitment to helping those in need makes it a true honor to help them in their mission.”

“The YWCA Transitions Program is incredibly thankful for the New Glarus Brewery Foundation supporting our capital needs. Because of their support, we are able to provide new commercial dryers for our clients to use in the apartments. We are grateful for their support to our clients and thank them for providing a need to ensure our clients time in our apartments goes smoothly before their transition into permanent housing” said Kayla Hanson, Program Director for Transitional Housing for YWCA Rock County.

Because of the generosity from the New Glarus Brewery Foundation, YWCA Rock County is able to purchase two commercial dryers for families in the Transitions Program, carpet for living area in the Alternatives to Violence Program Shelter, mulch for the playground at the Alternatives to Violence Program Shelter, and sidewalk removal and replacement around the playground of the Shelter. These much-needed improvements will greatly improve the quality of life for the Women and families that YWCA Rock County serves through these programs.

Angela Moore, YWCA Rock County Executive Director commented “This support is invaluable for us at YWCA Rock County. The distribution of dollars to fund our capital needs helps to ensure our facilities are maintained and our clients are safe. We are extremely appreciative of this support.”

YWCA Rock County continues to fundraise for both of these programs and the YWCA Rock County as a whole to make sure that they are able to continue to provide the community with the vital resources that are needed.
