Two local police agencies team on up a chase of a reckless driver that authorities say lasted more than a dozen miles.

Janesville police say they arrested 40-year-old Sean May of Janesville after a pursuit that ran more than 15 miles through Janesville, and at one point spilled outside city limits early Tuesday. Police say they saw May driving recklessly through Janesville at about 1:20 a.m. Tuesday.

Police say Rock County sheriff’s officers used tire spikes twice during their part of the chase. That took out a couple of tires on May’s vehicle, but May kept going. He re-entered city limits, and Janesville police chased him for 15 miles through Janesville before an officer used used their vehicle to stop May’s at the 4100 block of South River Road.

Authorities have not said where the chase began, or where May’s vehicle was headed when it left city limits, or where the vehicle was located when it re-entered the city.

Police have filed charges of reckless driving. The sheriff’s office expects to file more charges.

May is currently on probation and is a registered sex offender for conviction of possession of child pornography in incidents including in Pierce County in 2004.
