The Woodman’s Sports and Convention Center design team continues to meet bi-weekly, with the hopes of finalizing plans this winter.

Janesville Neighborhood and Community Development Director Jennifer Petruzzello says the Woodman’s Community Center would be 20 to 30 percent bigger than the store it’s replacing.

As a result, the Sears store would need to be torn down before construction could begin.

The design phase for the project is about 30 percent complete.

Petruzzello says the design team hopes to finish their work in February and put the project out for bid with a contract award in March or April of 2023.
