A new form of transportation is debuting in Janesville Monday.

The company Bird is deploying 75 electric scooters in Janesville as part of a pilot program running through October.

Assistant to the City Manager Erin Davis says users must be at least 18 years old and the scooters need to be kept on streets with a posted speed limit of 25 miles per hour or less.

Davis says riders will need to download the Bird smartphone app to locate them.

Scooters must be parked out of the way of pedestrians and never block sidewalks, ramps, doorways, or driveways.

Bird requires users to take a photo of scooters within their app following use to ensure they have been appropriately parked.
