The City of Janesville has completed their Fleet Replacement Program with the purchase of two new city buses.

Transit Director Rebecca Smith says the new buses purchased as part of the program have some updated features including new technology to help riders hear and see upcoming stops, additional air purifiers, and a new layout.

Smith says they started applying for grants through the federal government in 2013 and started purchasing new buses in 2018. The J-T-S bus fleet is now valued at 7.47 million dollars.

State and federal grants provided 5.9 million dollars towards the program, which covered 79% of the cost.
