A 62-year-old Beloit man will spend more than 20 years in prison for his role in an attempted bank robbery last year.

David Steven Gober was found guilty Friday on charges of robbery of a financial institution and attempted armed robbery with use of a dangerous weapon.

On June 16th, 2023, Gober robbed the BMO Harris in Beloit, passing a bank teller a note that read “give me all your money, I have a gun”. Later the same day Gober attempted to rob the Hotel Goodwin in Beloit, again by passing a note to an employee stating he had a weapon.

Gober was sentenced to 12.5 years of initial confinement followed by 5 years of extended supervision for robbery of a financial institution, and 10 years of initial confinement and 5 years of extended supervision for the attempted armed robbery charge.

Both sentences will run concurrent with each other.
