Construction of the Rock County Children’s Museum in the former First National Bank building hinges on another $2 million in donations.

Board President John Westphal says they’ve raised almost $8 million of their $10 million fundraising goal.

The City of Janesville has contributed $2 million for the project and the Rock County Board is set to decide Thursday if they want to allocate $500,000 in ARPA funding for the children’s museum.

Westphal says the historic portion of the former bank will be left up and the newer drive-thru will be torn down and replaced with a new two-story structure.
