The Janesville City Council unanimously approves moving $500,000 from the special revenue fund to a housing assistance fund to help dozens of citizens who were evicted earlier this month.

Local landlords Rock and Mary Donahue served termination notices to their 119 tenants after settling a sexual harassment lawsuit with the U.S. Department of Justice.

City Manager Kevin Lahner says much of the money will be used for hotel vouchers.

Local agencies will be able to work with the city to access those funds to secure hotel vouchers and other housing assistance as they help the families secure a place to live.

On February 16th at 1:00 p.m. the City of Janesville, the Janesville Boys & Girls Club, and ECHO are hosting a resource event for affected residents in the gym at the Janesville Boys & Girls Club.
