Milton’s popular Cone Zone ice cream shop reopens in April under new ownership.

New owner Heather Chady says it’s been hard to keep the lid on her purchase of the popular frozen treat shop. Since its founder put the place up for sale this fall, Chady says Cone Zone’s been the talk of Milton.

Chady says as a kid, she worked the concession booth at the Jefferson Speedway. She’s been a fan of Cone Zone for years, and actually has daydreamed of owning a business like it. Now the dream is real.

Cone Zone is a popular evening spot along West High Street that fills up fast when sports games and practices wrap up at nearby Schilberg Park. Founder Rob Tracey had put the place up for sale after running it 12 years.

Since Chady and her husband, Steve Chady, announced purchase of the Cone Zone this week, the ice cream shop’s Facebook page has lit up with queries from locals who wonder if she’ll change the shop’s menu … or its name.

Chady says Cone Zone won’t change much.

A frequent question is whether Cone Zone will still sell ‘Dole Whip,’ a fruit ice cream.

That one’s easy. Chady says the answer is ‘yes.’
