The Janesville Police and Fire Commission have named the three finalists for the open Janesville Police Chief position.

First up is Alan Fear, who is currently the Director of Public Safety for Cornell College in Iowa and his previous experience includes 21 years as a member of the Cedar Rapids Police Department, where he attained the rank of Patrol Division Commander.

Another finalist is Patrick Hoey, who served as Chief of Police for the Village of Carpentersville, Illinois, from 2021 to 2023 and also served as the Chief of Police in South Beloit, Illinois, and Assistant Deputy Chief of Police in Rockford, Illinois.

Third is Chad Pearson is currently the Acting Chief Police of the Janesville Police Department and has been its Deputy Chief of Operations since 2022, and joined the agency in 1997 and has served as a Sergeant and Lieutenant.

The three finalists will engage in a series of interviews and tests before a final selection is made.
