Enrollment may have dipped once again in the Beloit School District, but administrators are encouraged by the numbers they’ve seen.

Superintendent Dr. Willie Garrison says in years past the district would lost between 300 and 400 students, but this year’s 3rd Friday in September enrollment data shows the district has 5,044 students, down only 102 from the year before.

Garrison says the district’s membership count, which is different than total enrollment and impacts state aid, was down by 98 students this year compared to last year, but better than a drop of 247 students they saw between 2021-22 and 2022-23.

Garrison wrote in a statement earlier this week he believes enrollment in the district will start to trend upwards.
