A new Beloit Health System birthing center offering alternative care officially opens this weekend.

Education and Outreach Coordinator Jen Geary says the offer the comforts of home such as a fully stocked kitchen, living room space, and three different birthing suites so families can experience a home birth while also having access to medical care if needed.

Geary says their goal is to support physiological labor in the birth process, so they do not have the ability to offer narcotics or epidurals, and they want to support the natural process of the labor itself while still giving comfort and coping tools.

The facility, located in Roscoe, is available for open house tours Saturday from 11am to 1pm.
