A new subdivision is likely on the way in the Town of Beloit of the town board approved the sale of more land to a Rockford based real estate developer.

Town Administrator Tim Wellnitz says Blackhawk Reserve LLC had already agreed to purchase roughly 35 acres of land south of Philhower Road and just north of the Garden Prairie Intermediate School Property, but the board approved the sale of an additional 38 acres Monday night.

Wellnitz says they want to be able to provide housing for anyone who wants to live in the town, and the town has become a more desirable location in recent years but they didn’t have quite enough housing yet.

Wellnitz says the developer could begin the first phase of construction as soon as this fall.
