It’s going to be a whole lot easier, and cheaper, for Janesville school district students to ride city buses going forward.

District Public Information Officer Patrick Gasper says they’ve agreed to three year Memorandum of Understanding with the city transit system which will allow all district middle and high school students to ride the JTS bus system for free.

Gasper says districts across the nation have noticed since the pandemic, attendance has been a tricky point that still hasn’t returned to pre-pandemic levels, so they were more than happy to remove a barrier that may impact a student’s attendance.

Starting September 1st, students will be able to ride buses for free simply by identifying themselves as a Janesville School District student.
