A 40-year-old Janesville woman is facing six years in prison after pleading guilty to knowingly operating without a license causing death.

At her plea hearing Friday afternoon in Rock County Court, Judge Derrick Grubb agreed to allow Brenda Violante to remain free on a signature bond while she awaits sentencing on October 12th.

Violante struck and killed a nine-year old boy in a crosswalk in September of last year. Police say she couldn’t see over the dashboard of her large SUV with illegally tinted windows.
