The owner of Uptown Janesville submits a request to the City of Janesville for a conditional use permit to construct and indoor sports and convention center facility on the portion of the property formerly occupied by Sears.

Senior Planner Brian Schweigl says a conditional use permit is required because the proposed building exceeds 25,000 square feet in size and the development site exceeds five acres in area.

Schweigl says Monday night the Plan Commission will get their first look at the project and schedule a public hearing.

The public hearing is expected to take place May first.
