State and local officials come together to help break ground on an addition that will nearly double the size of a Brodhead cheese maker.

Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association President John Umhoefer was on hand for a groundbreaking Tuesday morning for the new Decatur Cheese Plant which is a partnership between Decatur Dairy and Decatur Swiss Cheese Co-op.

Wisconsin Department of Agriculture Trade and Consumer Protection Secretary Randy Romanski says Governor Evers was proud to provide a $24,000 Dairy Processor Grant to help facilitate the project.

The 23,000 square foot expansion will include a new cooler, dry storage, warming room, new docks, and a whey separation area.
