More than a year after the shooting outside of a Beloit bar, the suspect from Indiana is facing prosecution in Rock County.

27-year-old Daniel Blackshear of Indianapolis made his initial court appearance on July 24, when a court commissioner set a $25,000 cash bond for his single charge of attempted first-degree intentional homicide.

Police accuse Blackshear of shooting a man multiple times outside of Rooney’s Pub in April of 2019. The victim had to be flown to a hospital in Madison after suffering gunshot wounds to his jaw, neck and hip.

U.S. Marshals located and arrested Blackshear in Indianapolis 10 days after the shooting. His first appearance in Rock County Court came exactly 15 months after his arrest.

He had his preliminary hearing Monday morning, and the court found probable cause to bind him over for trial. He is scheduled for an arraignment on August 12.
