The Rise and Fall of the Western as an Art Form and Moral Messenger in the U.S

The Western played a powerful role in American culture from the 1870s through the 1970s. Found in books, movies, radio,
and television, Western stories helped shape American values for generations. This talk will explore why the Western became so popular in a rapidly growing, urban America, how it rose to dominance through the 1950s, and why it declined in the decades that followed.

The event is free. Seating is limited, so registration is encouraged. Call 815-235-9777 to register.
