
A Republican Congressman from Wisconsin has concerns about what he calls an egregious breach of confidentiality at the U.S. Supreme Court.
1st District Representative Bryan Steil of Janesville says that while he is pro choice, the abortion issue should be left up to the elected officials in the states to decide.
At a news conference in Janesville’s Lower Courthouse Park on Wednesday, Steil’s Democratic Challenger Anne Roe said the high court’s leaked summary of a decision is too political and shifts health decisions from women to lawmakers.
Wisconsin has had a ban on abortions except to save the life of the mother since 1849.
The new draft opinion was made in a case challenging Mississippi’s ban on abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy. The court is expected to rule on the case before it’s term ends in June or July.
