Anyone entering Rock County government facilities will be required to wear a face mask starting Monday.

Rock County Administrator Josh Smith made the announcement Thursday, citing an increase in positive COVID-19 test results.

He emphasized the “increasing body of evidence” that masks greatly reduce the spread of the novel coronavirus and help businesses stay open safely.

Rock County recently created the Reopen Rock Task Force, which said this week it strongly supports the recommendation for individuals to wear masks when in close contact with anyone who isn’t part of their household.

The county will provide visitors to its buildings with a disposable face mask if the person does not have one already, and it plans to accommodate those with health conditions that make mask wearing difficult.
