Janesville’s plans for economic recovery from the pandemic include applying for a more than $3 million grant through the CARES Act to benefit the Transit System. Director Rebecca Smith says the money has already been pre-apportioned for the city. Smith says it can be used for operations and capital improvements and can be carried forward into future budget years. She says city officials anticipate financial complications resulting from the current health crisis, and these money’s will be able to help fortify the transit system.
