A criminal complaint provides new details in the Dec. 17 shooting in Janesville that left one victim in critical condition.

Prosecutors say Deonte Foster, 41, the man charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide in the case, and the victim knew each other and were neighbors at the apartment building in the 300 block of High Street where the shooting took place.

A woman who had been staying with the victim was present in the apartment when the shooting happened. She told police that she and the victim had bought crack cocaine from Foster in the past.

On the night of the shooting, the woman says Foster confronted the victim because he thought the victim was sending people to knock on Foster’s door.

A woman who was living with Foster told police he rushed her out of the apartment with him after she heard the disturbance down the hall. Foster’s companion told police she didn’t see Foster with a gun and that he didn’t say anything about the incident.

There is a warrant out for Foster’s arrest.
