The price tag for a proposed Rock County Children’s Museum continues to grow.
A $600,000 grant from the State Building Commission puts the museum’s capital campaign at $10.3 million.
Board President John Westphal says although that puts fundraising efforts over the original goal, that doesn’t mean they are ready to break ground.
Westphal says they started the campaign before knowing exactly what they wanted to build and what it would cost, and as the process progresses they are learning more about construction costs and what goes into a children’s museum.
The Children’s Museum was one of four local projects to receive non-state grant funding from the Building Commission.
