An Illinois man is in custody after a shots-fired incident in Janesville.

Police say they responded to a disturbance shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday in the 1300 block of Hamilton Avenue where two men had been arguing and one fired a gun.

The armed man, Nicholas Russell, 27, ran into a wooded area nearby before police arrived. When officers got on scene, they searched the woods, found Russell and arrested him.

Police say this was an isolated incident and that there is no threat to the public.

Russell is being held on pending charges of first-degree recklessly endangering safety and intoxicated use of a firearm.
