The 39-year-old Janesville man accused of firing a gun during a disturbance outside Discount Smoke and Spirits on Center Avenue in July has his $500 cash bond reduced to a signature bond.

According to online court records Dennis Smith waived his right to a preliminary hearing in Rock County Court Tuesday morning on charges of second-degree reckless endangering safety, discharging a firearm within 100 yards of a building, and disorderly conduct with use of a dangerous weapon.

Court Commissioner Mason Braunschweig bound Smith over for trial and entered pleas of not guilty to the charges.

According to the criminal complaint, Smith and another man argued inside the business on the 2500 block of Center Avenue around 1:00 p.m. on July 5th.

After Smith was pushed to the ground, he pulled a handgun and fired a round at the other man.
