The City of Janesville expands access to the Rock River by picking up a piece of property its had its eye on for some time.

The City has purchased the 1.7 acre former Schlueter Furniture site at 533 North Main Street along the Rock River.

Parks Director Cullen Slapak says the money comes from the City’s Parks Acquisition Fund.

The City plans to use the site to provide river access and eventually extend the Riverwalk corridor between Traxler Park and downtown.
