The Walworth County Public Health Department is offering well water sampling kits at a discounted rate during the month of July.

Public Health Officer Erica Bergstrom says bacteria or nitrate test kits are only $10. Bergstrom says arsenic and lead testing kits will also be available for $18 each.

Public health officials recommend testing for bacteria and nitrates once a year. Testing for arsenic should be done at least once during the life of the well, and lead testing should be done if children are consuming the water.

The discount test kits can be purchased at Walworth County Health and Human Services in Elkhorn.
