A lack of education by the general public could be one of the reasons why members of the LGBTQ+ community receive the hate that they do.
Several local groups hope to remedy that by providing a safe space for the community to learn more about issues affecting our LGBTQ+ neighbors.
Family Services of Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois LGBTQ+ Survivor Advocate Stephanie Hormig says the second annual Rock County LGBTQ+ educational summit will take place on June 17th at Blackhawk Technical College.
There will be sessions on topics including educational barriers, healthcare disparities, advocacy advances, and more.
Hormig says tickets are $25 and they must be purchased in advance on Eventbrite.
