A suspect is expected to appear in Rock County Court Tuesday or Wednesday in connection with a non-fatal shooting Friday night in the town of Beloit.
Lieutenant Steve Zielinski says the victim walked into the Beloit Memorial Hospital Emergency Room a little before 7:00 o’clock Friday with a gunshot wound.
Zielinski says 27-year-old Merlin Y. Varela-Licona of the town of Beloit was arrested Monday morning and is currently being held at the Rock County Jail pending charges of attempted homicide and recklessly endangering safety.
Zielinski says the circumstances of the shooting, which occurred on the 2000 block of South Church Street, remain unclear.
