Motorists traveling through the City of Beloit my have one less stop light to deal with in the near future.
The Beloit City Council is considering replacing the traffic light at State Street and St. Paul Avenue with stop signs.
Public works Director Bill Frisbee says they hired a consultant to do a traffic study after that traffic light failed about six months ago.
The study found that traffic would need to increase by 15 to 20 percent on State Street and 250 percent on St. Paul Avenue to meet warrants of a stop light.
The coast to fix the traffic light would be about $30,000.
