A Janesville man who raped a seven-year-old child but plead guilty to child pornography charges as part of a plea deal will spend three decades behind bars.

26-year-old Christopher Senecal was charged last March with five counts of possession of child pornography, exposing a child to harmful material, and first degree sexual assault of a child.

In October he plead guilty to the child pornography charge and the other two charges were dismissed but read into the record.

Senecal is accused of grooming a girl he knows when she was as young as four and recording himself sexually assaulting her when she was seven. He also possessed thousands of images of child pornography.

Senecal’s father apparently knew about the crimes and did nothing to protect the young girl, and so he faces a charge as well, for failure to act.

In addition to the prison, Judge Derrick Grubb ordered Senecal to serve 20 years of extended supervision.
