The FBI’s Milwaukee office is investigating inside a tow-behind camper that’s at a parking lot near the McDonald’s restaurant on Pontiac Drive on Janesville’s northeast side.
An FBI agent on scene told WCLO Radio she couldn’t immediately give details, but officers along with Janesville police appeared to be hauling items out of a camper that’s hitched to an older Dodge pickup truck in a lot near Pontiac Drive and Humes Road.
An employee of a nearby store along Pontiac drive said he saw armed officers in tactical gear swarm the camper at around 2:30 this afternoon and enter it. The employee said he saw one officer in a helmet removing a dark-colored box or case, and then carefully open it on the ground in the parking lot. The officer used a retractable mirror to look inside before pulling multiple items from the box.
Big Radio was on scene at shortly before 3 p.m. and watched as agents removed items from the camper and placed them in evidence boxes.
It’s not immediately clear what agents were looking for or had discovered.
The store employee said he thinks the camper’s one that’s been parked in lots near the McDonald’s for at least two months.
