A Janesville woman who passed out on drugs in a minivan with small children inside gets 2 years of probation.
Assistant Rock County D.A. Mary Bricco says she’s impressed how quickly 27-year-old Ricki Lee Whitby has turned her life around following her June 2nd arrest on drug and felony neglect charges.
Bricco says Whitby has remained sober since her arrest, is working, and is cooperating with county human services officials.
Whitby’s accused of passing out in her van in downtown Janesville after ingesting drugs. Police found cocaine, cannabis, prescription opioids, alcohol and tranquilizers in the van. Three toddlers discovered in the van were not harmed.
Rock County Judge Karl Hanson says Whitby’s three counts of felony neglect remain open cases. They’ll be dismissed if Whitby sticks to the terms of her probation, including no illegal use of drugs.
Her spouse, Demarco Whitby, was also found passed out in the vehicle. He’s in court later this week.
