17-year-old Beloit man Durrall Haury-Hanson faces trial for extreme battery charges in the pistol whipping of a former classmate.

Court Commissioner Mason Braunschweig says police found enough evidence Haury-Hanson was a culprit in an October pistol whipping that left another person hospitalized.

Haury-Hanson’s accused of felony battery and armed robbery. A Beloit resident says they’d tried to buy cannabis oil cartridges from Haury-Hanson, a former classmate.

The person says Haury-Hanson and two others robbed them of $420 in cash during a drug deal in a gray car.

A Beloit officer testifying at a probable cause hearing last week said the victim emerged from the violent ride with their face dripping blood and gashes on their head and nose after being beaten with a gun.

Haury-Hanson’s attorney nibbled at the cops’ investigation. At one point during the hearing, the attorney asked the officer testifying if she even knew where the Illinois state line is or where the incident happened.

The officer acknowledged police hadn’t located the car reportedly used during the attack. She said police have possible leads on a second person in the car at the time.

A hearing’s next week.

Haury-Hanson also faces a set of unrelated charges he shot a gun while running from cops.
