The city of Beloit has their budget approved for 2024.

Finance Director Eric Miller says the total budget for all funds is approximately $110 million, the general fund budget is approximately $39.3 million, the property tax levy increased by about $534,000, and the proposed property tax rate of $7.58 is 14 cents less 2022.

Miller says a couple of different departments are seeing some sizeable budget increases, with IT approved for a $1.18 million budget which is a 18.6% increase, while public works sees a 29.75% increase for a budget of $8.7 million.

Reasons for the department increases include a new desktop analyst and project manage position in the IT department, and another planner position and a deputy public works director in public works.
