A Janesville man is jailed on attempted homicide after police say he shot at a gun at a person and led cops on a vehicle chase that wound miles through Janesville.

Police they pursued 30-year-old Sergio A. Morales Jr. of Janesville 14 miles through Janesville after he shot a gun at another person in an apartment complex at the 2300 block of Center Avenue.

Police say the shooting broke out about 4:11 p.m. Sunday. Morales chased the person in a vehicle for several blocks and continued shooting at them.

Police spotted Morales nearby, but he fled in a vehicle in what police call a “14-mile meandering pursuit.” Police disabled his vehicle at Ruger Avenue on the city’s east side.

Morales was intoxicated.

He faces an initial court hearing on a count of attempted intentional homicide domestic violence while armed.
