Members of the Rock County Board of Supervisors aren’t quite ready to commit to $2.5 million in funding the City of Janesville requested to help pay for the proposed Woodman’s Community Center at Uptown Janesville.
District 26 Supervisor Tricia Clasen says of the $15 million the County collects in sales tax, a significant portion is already built into operations.
Clasen says it’s a pretty big investment when it will mostly benefit just the City of Janesville.
Clasen says the County is currently engaging is strategic planning and she recognizes the need to do more coordinating with other stakeholders.
The estimated price tag for the project has ballooned from $30 to $60 million.
