Ongoing issues with the audiovisual equipment in Rock County’s court rooms prompt the Board of Supervisors to move a major capital project up two years.
District 22 Supervisor Mike Schwarz says when the sound or video go out in one courtroom, they all go down. It’s been happening a lot more often too.
A total replacement of the AV equipment had been slated for 2026, but due to the ongoing cost of repairs to the current system, the project is being fast-tracked to this year.
The project is being funded with $415,000 in unanticipated interest revenue and $359,000 from the sale of the old Rock County Job Center building. The total cost is approximately $802,000.
The Rock County Board of Supervisors gave their stamp of approval in a 27 to 1 vote this week.
