The Beloit Public Library is helping patrons feel good about paying down their fines from overdue books.

Marketing and Communications Coordinator Amy Mitchell says the library is accepting nonperishable food items as credit toward fines during the month of November.

Mitchell says you can bring up to 10 non-perishable food items a day, with each item contributing $1 toward any late fees on your account.

All of the food will be donated to Caritas.

Mitchell says visitors can also read to pay down their library fines, every 15 minutes will get them a dollar. Youth and young adult items have no late fees.
