Evansville School District residents approve an operational referendum.
The district asked voters for authority to exceed its state-imposed revenue limit by $2.9 million for three school years, starting with 2024-25.
The referendum passed by a vote count of 3,494 to 2,704.
Passage of the fall question follows the failure of a similar question put to voters in April.
Under that proposal, the district would’ve been able to exceed its revenue limit by increasing amounts each year through the 2028-29 school year to a high of $5.9 million. But the voters rejected that question, 1,504 to 1,431 and the district had to cut staff as a result for the 2024-25 school year
District administrator Nate Perry says because the new referendum passed, they will be able to restore some of those positions at some point this school year.
