The Janesville man convicted of supplying the illegal drugs that killed a 41-year-old Janesville man in January of 2021 will spend more than two decades behind bars.

49-year-old David Steptoe plead guilty to first degree reckless homicide by delivery of drugs and possession with intent to deliver fentanyl back in February.

Judge Derrick Grubb (sentenced Steptoe Friday to a total of 22 years in prison and 10 years of extended supervision.

Steptoe was first taken into custody in October of 2021 by Beloit police on separate drug charges including possession with intent to deliver heroin, cocaine and T-H-C.

Janesville police arrested him again while in custody on a new charge of first-degree reckless homicide for the Janesville man’s death that resulted from a drug mixture of fentanyl and cocaine.
