A single-family home in Fort Atkinson is no longer habitable following a residential fire Friday morning.

The Fort Atkinson Fire Department says firefighters were dispatched to a single-story home on the 1400 block of Endl Boulevard just after 8:00 Friday morning.

First responders found smoke coming from the roof eaves and basement windows of the residence.

Firefighters attacked the blaze from inside the home and found a mattress burning in a basement bedroom.

One resident was transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation. No firefighters were injured.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
