The Rock County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a death investigation after human remains are found on public hunting grounds.

The Sheriff’s Office says deputies and DNR wardens were dispatched to the 8600 block of North Pine Road in Milton township just after 9:30 Sunday morning on the report of suspicious activity.

Upon arrival, deputies spoke with a hunter who found what appeared to be a skeleton.

The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the remains are human, however the person’s identity is unknown at this time.

In May of 2015 30-year-old Milton resident Adam Mills went missing after he was last seen leaving his home following an argument with his spouse. He’s never been seen or heard from since.
