The 33-year-old Beloit man accused of crashing through barricades into downtown Beloit’s Oktoberfest event last month waives his right to a preliminary hearing in Rock County Court.

33-year-old Gaudencio Cruz Gutierrez of Beloit is being held on a $50,000 cash bond on charges of second-degree recklessly endangering safety and two counts of bail jumping. He plead not guilty to the charges and was bound over for trial Friday.

Police say several people had to dive out of the way when Cruz Gutierrez barreled through a barrier and into a crowd. Nobody was hurt.

It’s not the first time something like this has happened in Beloit. 42-year-old Curtis Metz of Orangeville, Illinois was sentenced to four years in prison after being convicted of driving into the Grand Lighted Parade in Beloit in 2019.

The past July, 33-year-old Anthony Benson of South Beloit was charged with driving through barricades and into a crowd at Eclipse Center Street and Eclipse Boulevard during 4th of July festivities. One person was injured during that incident.
