A woman is in critical condition after an officer-involved shooting in Walworth County on Tuesday.

Authorities responded to a report of a woman attacking a man with a razor blade at a home in the town of East Troy. When officers arrived, they confirmed the woman had cut the man.

The suspect left the house through a window armed with a knife. Police say despite numerous commands to drop the knife, she advanced toward the officers. A Walworth County sheriff’s deputy shot the woman with a rifle.

She was in critical condition Tuesday afternoon, and the man who called 911 was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The woman faces charges of second-degree recklessly endangering safety while armed, disorderly conduct while armed and felony intimidation.

The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. The deputy who shot the woman has been placed on administrative duty.
