A $3.89 million grant from the State Department of Administration will go a long way towards a major expansion project at the Beloit Public Library.

Governor Tony Evers doled out $115 million to 35 local and tribal communities around the state to fund projects designed to provide reliable broadband access.

Marketing and Communications Coordinator Amy Mitchell says the grant is almost double the library’s budget for an entire year.

The expansion includes six new classrooms, three computer labs, and an interactive children’s learning space.

Mitchell says the library was originally going to launch a capital campaign to help fund the improvements. The plan now is to launch a much smaller capital campaign to pay for the exhibits in a new interactive children’s learning space.
