Milton’s common council will consider a new snow and ice removal ordinance during its regular meeting Tuesday night.
Under a current city policy, property owners can request exemption from sidewalk snow and ice removal when their sidewalks are not connected to others.
This policy has also led to exemptions for sidewalks on cul-de-sacs, in areas where there is little pedestrian traffic, and where there are small or no terraces.
Under the proposed ordinance, only disconnected sidewalks would be eligible for temporary closure and exemption from snow and ice removal.
The council also expects to revisit a proposed ordinance that would create residency restrictions on sex offenders.
The proposed measure would prohibit offenders from living within 1,200 feet, or about a quarter mile, of public places where children congregate or play.
That would include schools, day care centers and public parks.
