A milelong stretch of East Memorial Drive is in line for a face lift.
The city presented preliminary plans Thursday for a pair of projects along the street from Milton Avenue to Parker Drive during a community forum.
One project includes making Memorial a three-lane road between Harding Street and Milton Avenue with one lane of traffic in each direction and a two-way turn lane in between.
The other project is a rebuild and reconfiguration of the ramps connecting Memorial and Parker drives.
Studies found consistent speeding along Memorial and crash rates higher than the state average, especially at Harding Street and on the ramp from southbound Parker to westbound Memorial.
The projects will be designed to reduce speeds and crash incidents.
Construction is slated for the spring and summer of 2027. Another public forum and project design, which may incorporate feedback gathered at the forums, will take place in the meantime.
